.SYNOPSIS...Slightly warmer weather is forecast for the interior
Saturday. A weak front brings a chance of light rain to Humboldt and
Del Norte Counties Sunday along with a cooling trend. A warming
trend is expected for the next week into the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...As a trough moves to the east, a weak ridge has
started to fill in over northwestern California. Interior high
temperatures Saturday are forecast to be a few degrees higher with
80`s and 90`s forecast in the valleys of Trinity, Mendocino, and
Lake counties. Gusty northwesterly winds of 20-30 mph are possible
this weekend in Lake and Mendocino counties as well, with the
highest gusts in the late afternoon. This warm up will be short
lived as another weak trough makes its way to the area Sunday into
Monday. This will bring more widespread cloud cover, moderating
temperatures, and a chance of light rain. NBM is showing around a 30-
40% chance for measurable precipitation in Humboldt and Del Norte
counties.

Ridging builds back in for much of the week, though there is
considerable variability on the strength of this ridge. Ensembles
are in decent agreement for an upper-level low forming off the coast
of southern California mid to late next week. Depending on the
position of the low, offshore flow could promote the warmest
temperatures of the year so far. NBM probabilities for triple digit
temperatures are around 50% for the warmest valleys next Friday into
the weekend. JB

.AVIATION...Stratus has started to return along the coast and is
rapidly spreading. This will likely make it into the terminals
shortly. CIGS are generally expected to start off MVFR. KFOT is
OVC014 at this time. The coastal sites will likely drop into IFR
overnight, but less likely to drop down to LIFR. The HREF shows
probabilities of the MVFR CIGS dropping to around 30 percent
Saturday afternoon, but confidence is low on how long any clearing
will last. Winds are expected to generally be lighter than today.
The inland valleys are expected to see fairly extensive low clouds
in Humboldt and Del Norte counties with some making its way into
Mendocino county. KUKI is expected to remain clear. MKK

.MARINE...Northerly winds Saturday are expected to be lighter than
on Friday, but moderate to strong breezes are expected to continue.
These are expected to be strongest south of Cape Mendocino. Along
the Del Norte coast the winds may become locally southerly this
morning. Tonight and Sunday more widespread light to gentle
southerly winds are expected as a weather system approaches the
area. The waves are expected to be mainly wind driven.

Monday high pressure is expected to build back into the waters as
high pressure returns. Winds are expected to peak on Tuesday before
diminishing again on Wednesday as another system moves by the area.
Stronger winds are expected again later in the week. At this point
there could be brief periods of gales, but generally winds are
expected to remain below gale force. The waves are expected to be
mainly wind driven through the period with some small southerly
swells. These look to be up to 2 to 3 feet. MKK
